Certainly. Galaxy’s Edge isn’t your father’s Star Wars. But one thing is certain: Disney wants to keep the land fresh and current with what’s happening in the ever-expanding Star Wars universe. Will Galaxy’s Edge remain in the “now” as the Star Wars story continues to unfold? We don’t know. That puts Galaxy’s Edge very close to “now” in the Star Wars universe. ![]() Visitors to Batuu are walking around in roughly 35 ABY just before the events of “The Rise of Skywalker” - which is as far as the Star Wars history goes so far. While there are thousands of years of Star Wars history, Galaxy’s Edge is set in the very recent past. That’s why we don’t see dead characters like Darth Vader and Han Solo wandering around Batuu in 35 ABY - no matter how much fans would love to see them.
