One she has been winning, but shows how the temptation could come back around. Showing her constant battle to overcome addiction. While we do get tension about the dangers outside, we have a personal battle the mother must go through. As she can only listen to what is happening outside the door. The story here shows everything from the point of view of the mother. She battles her own demons in hope of making it out. The threat of her abusive ex and addict friend lurking around the home. The story here will follow a mother locked in a pantry, needing to hope her infant child can keep her baby safe. Showing the balance her character is going through. Rainey Qualley in the leading role gives the best performances. When it comes to Rob and Sammy, they are both involved in continuing to get their addictions not caring who they hurt. She will need to battle her own addiction which will tempt her to return to her previous life or battle to save her children. Things only take a turn for the worst when the abusive boyfriend returns with his addict friend. Packed up ready to go, when disaster strikes, and she finds herself trapped in the pantry. But things turn nasty when Lainey’s father Rob (Jake Horowitz) arrives with his new friend Sammy (Vincent Gallo) who is also a meth-head and a suspected child molester. Her relationship with her daughter is very sweet and there’s a charm about how they interact with each other, especially when Jess locks herself in the large pantry and she has to ask Lainey to look after her baby brother Mason. There is a bit of exposition early on when Jess continually tells her daughter Lainey about her previous misgivings and why she’s moving away and so forth but it never becomes desperate. It’s pretty clear right away that she’s had some sort of arduous and unhealthy past and the first twenty minutes, rather unsubtly, sets up what's about to unfold. Rainey Qualley plays Jess, a former drug addict mother of two who is selling her grandmother's beat-up old country house in hopes of moving onto greener pastures with her young children.
